Bracknell Forest’s Children’s Service has big ambitions for the future – and is a place where you can realise yours.
We are looking for a qualified social worker to join our busy Referral and Assessment Team. The role will incorporate time spent in the Referral and Assessment Team (the Duty team) and a place on the rota of the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
The Duty team is busy and supportive undertaking both Single Assessments under Child in Need and Child Protection enquiries on new referrals into Children’s Social Care. The Team performs at a high level, with supportive management and a staff team that are enthusiastic and committed to the children they work with and to raising standards of practice.
Bracknell Forest MASH is the single point of contact for all safeguarding concerns regarding children and young people living in Bracknell and brings together a team of professionals from a number of partner agencies. Within the MASH, information from partner agencies is collated to assess risk and decide what action to take. A primary function of the social worker role is to assist in managing contacts and identify any child protection concerns, liaise with professionals, family members and undertake confidential MASH enquiries.
Bracknell Forest has recently been awarded DfE Innovation funding to implement Hertfordshire County Council’s successful Family Safeguarding model, which achieved a 49 per cent reduction in the number of children with child protection plans. The funding will broaden the range of professionals available to provide a holistic, family-centred approach to social care. Adult and children’s social care teams will work together to deliver the right support for a family more quickly, therefore possibly reducing the need for more serious interventions.
You will be committed to safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and bring a sound knowledge of relevant child care legislation, good report writing skills, communication skills and an ability to relate to children, young people and their families. Our staff are our greatest asset and you will receive regular supervision; have access to excellent training opportunities and the ability to develop your professional skills and interests.
Located in the South East, Bracknell Forest is a small and friendly unitary authority in Berkshire, just 28 miles west of London, close to Reading and mid-way between the M3 and M4 corridors. It is a diverse area incorporating the best features of town and attractive countryside.
If you have the skills, vision, enthusiasm and drive we are looking for, and if you want to work for a local authority that value and invest in staff, we would love to hear from you.
