Tunbridge Wells Borough Council

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is a high performing, innovative local authority with a clear and realistic five year plan focussed on attracting the right investment and infrastructure to improve everybody’s quality of life. At the heart of our plan is an ambitious and exciting change programme that will see the town centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells transformed and the future of the magnificent green spaces in our towns and villages secured: the Development Management team has a central role in the delivery of this plan and the long-term vision for the Borough.

As one of two Team Leaders you will be at the very forefront of this delivery, leading a team of dedicated Principal Planners, Planners and Technicians, securing high quality development and ensuring that planning decisions are made in accordance with Council and national policy.

You will need to have considerable post qualification town planning experience, including experience in a Local Planning Authority, and have excellent team leadership, communication and presentation skills. The post will involve close liaison with Borough Members, Parish/Town Councils, applicants, agents, other sections of the Council, consultees and the shared support and administrative service.

The ideal candidate will be tenacious, thorough, adaptable and able to motivate, lead and manage others. This post is ideal for someone who wants to develop their planning career in a positive and forward thinking Authority.

Benefits include 26 days holiday (increasing to 29 days after five years Local Government service) and an additional £1,000 per annum essential car user allowance with free parking.
