Maternity cover required for the post of Head of Chief Executive's office (from 6th October 2014 to as least 28th August 2015 Grade PO5.
The Chief Executive is looking for a diligent, quick learner to provide effective cover as the Head of Chief Executive’s Office.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of his office and will manage a team providing executive business support to him and the Council’s Management Board.
You will work closely with the Chief Executive, providing support with specific projects together with writing and commissioning briefings, reports and projects on his behalf. You will ensure critical deadlines are met by senior officers and that developments are made in line with the Chief Executive’s expectations.
Highly organised, you will have the ability to work in a political environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines. You will have sound judgement and high levels of discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
As a team manager you will have experience in leading colleagues to achieve and maintain high standards and will be committed to developing individual members to their full potential. You will be part of the Council’s new centralised business support function and will be expected to champion the new model within your team, delivering the vision and setting a precedent for the rest of the organisation.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with Members and officers at all levels, both within and outside the Council, are essential to this role.
