Due to the implementation of the Care Act we are seeking to appoint a temporary Welfare Benefits Officer to join the existing Welfare Benefit Team on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2015.
This post will assist the existing team to undertake financial assessments for all new and existing users of residential care services. This is to enable West Berkshire Council to comply with the requirements of the Charging for Accommodation Guidance.
Other roles and responsibilities of this post will be to maximise the welfare benefit potential of clients within Community Services.
You should have several years experience of working in a welfare benefits setting, an up to date knowledge of all benefit legislation, excellent numeracy and IT skills and the ability to learn quickly. We will provide you with training and support to undertake the role. You will be required to visit service users in their own home and therefore you will need the use of a car.
